Creating a painting is an endeavor that encompasses many levels of experience. On one level it can be seen as a manifestation, or a log, of the various formal interactions I notice between the world of man and the world of nature . On another level (and just as important as observed formal interactions) creating a painting becomes an articulation of an undeniably subjective view of the world surrounding me. Weather, mood, music, literature and other factors cannot be denied as a heavy influence over how I see what I see and how I make sense of it. It is my hope that by combining these different types of experiences, a viewer can enter my work on a formal, painterly level as well as an emotional one.
